A Screenwriter's Beginning...

Cassie Carey began her screenwriting career when she decided to write her first television pilot at the age of 16. After months and months of writing in her garage, she began to study screenwriting with Academy of Art University's Pre-College Art Experience. There, Cassie was taken under the wing of her instructor who encouraged her to showcase her pilot's teaser at the 2016 art expo.

Cassie pitched her television series to an FX executive through Stage 32 after the summer program ended. Not only was her script requested, but she got a perfect score on her scorecard. Cassie graduated a semester early from high school and is now in the process of getting her diploma in filmmaking.

American in England

February 19, 2019

I am pleased to announce that I will be leaving America, land of the free, to live a new life in jolly old England around April 15th. I will be attending Brighton Film School for a ten week course titled "Introduction to Filmmaking." Just to get my feet wet. Once I've completed it, the real schooling will begin. I'll study in Brighton for nine months to earn a filmmaking diploma. As well as meeting some old and new friends. Now, off to Wonderland! (Or is it Neverland? Hmmm...)

Brighton Film School

August 24, 2018

What a thrilling experience! For three weeks, I collaborated with such lovely people who all, including me, developed and shot films in lovely Brighton. I was fortunate enough to show off my acting chops in almost every project. As well as learning to operate radio microphones, the C300 camera, and the Blackmagic camera (an indie film favorite.) Special thanks to our instructor Julian Kerridge, Martin Sadofski, Adam, my parents, my cousins for letting me stay in their charming home, and all the students who attended BFS summer 2018.

Star-Crossed Arcade

March 28, 2018

"Aligned once then remained crossed - a dying arcade's unfortunate last day becomes two teenage outcasts' fortunate last chance to rearrange the cosmos." -Logline

Star-Crossed Arcade is a coming-of-age story set during the 1980's in a dying arcade. Two teenagers; Delilah and Maxwell, spend the arcade's closing day dwelling on their past regrets. As well as "what went wrong" in their relationship through flashbacks with, oddly enough, an undertone of a Shakespearean romance.
